About this course
The Healthy Weight Programme is a 12-week course helping participants to get in better shape for summer and beyond! It is about long-term weight management – not a 12-week power diet – and will help you overcome any barriers you have to achieving your ideal weight.
The course is suitable for a wide range of people, from those wanting to add more muscle or tone to those wanting to slim down. Participants come from a wide variety of ages and backgrounds and everyone is welcome.
The programme consists of two 1h 45min sessions a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays 5.30pm – 7.15pm), and costs £100 for YMCA Club members and £120 for non-members.
It runs from 15th May until 19th July 2018, and there are only 15 spaces available so book now to avoid disappointment!
What participants will get from the course
The course is made up of a number of elements. Part of the sessions includes informal, friendly discussions about weight management topics and encouragement in achieving goals. Other parts include a variety of physical activity sessions – exclusively for the course participants – which can involve using exercise bikes, working on core strength on the gym floor or doing some stress-relieving boxing using pads.
There are also expert-led workshops which cover topics ranging from portion sizes, to eating out at restaurants, to food labelling and even how to survive the Easter holidays! Finally, the programme also includes a personal food diary review, two health checks and plenty of advice for gym-based exercises for you to continue the good work.
Who can sign up
The course is open to all members. However, please note it is strongly advised that participants attend all sessions to achieve their desired goals. In some circumstances we accept those who can only attend one weekly session but please inquire for more information.
About the tutors
The course is run by a team of five experienced tutors led by Declan Duncan. All the tutors are qualified personal trainers so all exercises can be tailored to the individual depending on their level of fitness.
