*New dates coming soon!
Our courses vary in length and will allow you to explore your creativity by producing ceramic works under the guidance of a qualified Tutor.
They take place in the YMCA Club Art Room, which features two wheels and an on-site kiln. All clay, glazes and tools are included in the course price. No preparation or understanding is necessary for this course and there is no form of assessment. There are just eight spaces on each course, so book now to avoid disappointment.
What students will learn on the longer courses:
Complete beginners are shown how to use the wheel and will progress into other areas depending on their personal interest. Those with more experience can choose any activity for which we have the facilities including slip casting, molding and hand building.
Attendees have a relaxing, entertaining and informative time, typically leaving the course having created a number of ceramic works.
What students will learn at the Saturday Ceramics Workshops:
Our Saturday workshops are not suitable for absolute beginners. They are suitable for those who have completed a YMCA Ceramics evening class or have some recent experience working with clay.
You will have more time to focus on your personal project or a specific technique such as hand building, slip casting, throwing on the potter's wheel or making a plaster mould, all under the guidance of our experienced Tutor.
Please note that this is a making only class and any finishing or glazing can be completed during a YMCA Ceramics evening class. You would therefore need to book a drop-in session at Club Reception which costs £20.
