Youth Membership

Our youth membership gives young people aged between 13 and 17 access to YMCA Club, supporting them to maintain and improve their physical and mental health.

At a reduced rate, young people can use the pool, cardio zone, youth classes and badminton courts. Use of free weights and resistance machines is restricted to those who are 16 and over, however, 13 to 15 year-olds can still benefit from strength training using the suspension training and bodyweight exercises.


To access the youth membership, all under 18s must have a 45-minute induction where we’ll establish their current activity levels and discuss their training goals. Our expert instructors will show them how to use all of the gym equipment in order to maximise the effectiveness of their workout. All inductions will need to be booked at reception and the membership fee is payable at the time of booking. The youth membership form will be provided at the time of booking. Participants will need to bring their full gym kit and a completed membership form.

Entrance Times:

13-15 year olds:

  • Weekdays: 6:30am–6:30pm
  • Saturday: 9.00am–8:00pm
  • Sunday: 9.00am–6.30pm

16-17 year olds:

  • Weekdays: 6:30am–10:30pm
  • Saturday: 9.00am–8:00pm
  • Sunday: 9.00am–6.30pm

Pool Access

All youth members can use the pool during off-peak hours as part of their membership.

Off-peak times are 9.30am–11.30am and 2.30pm–5.30pm on weekdays, and all day on weekends.

To make sure that youth members are safe to swim, under 16’s must identify themselves to the lifeguard on duty when entering the pool. The lifeguard will then test the youth members swimming ability. If they can swim a length comfortably, they will be allowed to swim without an adult. If they aren’t a confident swimmer, they will be allowed to swim in the shallow end but only if they are with someone who can swim. Members are expected to swim lengths in the pool.

Please be aware that the Sauna and Steam Rooms on poolside are only available to 16+.

Court Bookings

Youth members can book court space on the Main Sports Hall to participate in Badminton, Basketball or Table Tennis. Bookings can be made for free at reception and are dependent on availability. Bookings can be made up to 7 days in advance with a maximum of one court per member per day. Equipment (Basketball, Rackets etc) can also be loaned from reception.
