Get on your spin bike!

Following the success of last year, the Tour de Y is back in London for 2014! This year’s cycling event takes place on Saturday 26 July and the money raised will allow Central YMCA to continue changing lives and supporting projects in our community from disability sport to healthy living for deprived children.

Taking part: In the Club and on the road

Our Tour de Y road cycle event includes three routes of differing lengths –allowing you to take in one of London’s most iconic parks, venture to South London, or discover the historic Kent countryside. Full details are available here.

We understand that everyone would love to take part but not all of you will be the next Bradley Wiggins or Laura Trott so we’ve put together a few activities in the Club which you can participate in.

Cycle the Tour de France distance
During the week of 21-26 July, we will be collectively tackling the whopping 3,656km of the Tour de France on our indoor bikes. How much of the Tour de France can you cycle in a week?

Book your bike and join our Spinathon in the Club on Saturday 26 July. Speak to one of our instructors to book your bike for just £10 and challenge yourself to ride 13km, 46km or 100km, the distances that our road cyclists will be undertaking.

Children’s cycle class
To kick off the week we are holding a free children’s cycle class on our indoor bikes during Saturday club on 19 July in the Main Sports Hall floor at 11am. All children 4ft tall (1.4m) or over are welcome to join in this 30 minute fun class.

Accessible cycling
On Sunday 20 July we will be running a free cycle class for people with disabilities during the Sunday Hub club (1.45-4.45), all who are able to sit on the indoor cycles are welcome to attend.
