‘RnR’ with Trigger Point Therapy

Redefine your recovery with our new class: ‘RnR’ with Trigger Point Therapy

When: Every Wednesday 12.30 – 1.00pm in ES2 and Friday 6.45-7.15pm in ES2

Many gym-goes train hard every day but don’t take the time to warm up or recover properly, which often leads to injury and further physical problems down the line. As a result, we’ve decided to add a new class to our timetable, specifically aimed at giving you the skills you need to balance not only your exercise and recovery, but also to help you stay in optimal physical performance.

You’ll be shown a range of exercises using foam rollers, massage balls and yoga blocks to rub out the kinks, soreness and tight spots in your muscles – giving you deep tissue relief, helping you maintain a healthy balanced body and ultimately preventing injury.

There’s only 12 places up for grabs in this class as the instructor needs to keep an eye on your technique, so arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Don’t ignore your sore muscles

Our body is a kinetic chain, which works as an integral functional unit. If one joint is not working efficiently, then the other joints will compensate; leading to muscle imbalances, tissue overload, and fatigue – all of which can cause injuries.

What are the benefits of Trigger Point Therapy?

  • Corrects imbalances: helping your muscles relax and providing optimal length-tension relations. This will help avoid muscle restrictions when you perform an exercise, giving positive feedback to your central nervous system.
  • Relaxes muscles: helping your muscles relax by activating your sensory receptors that connect your muscle fibres to your tendons.
  • Improves joint range of movement: breaking down the knots which can restrict your range of movement can help you to use your full range of motion when performing an exercise.
  • Relieves muscle soreness: speeding up your recovery due to better blood circulation in the body, providing more oxygen to your muscles.

Please note: This class is not appropriate for those with congestive heart failure, kidney failure, or any organ failure, bleeding disorders, or contagious skin conditions. If you have medical issues, please seek the advice of a medical professional before starting SMR or Trigger point therapy.
