There’s no better way to find out what it’s like to be a part of YMCA Club then hearing from the members themselves. This time we hear from Janice Moseley, who has benefitted from YMCA Club being right on her doorstep.
Going to the gym regularly can have many benefits, most obviously improving your health and wellbeing. It can also be a great place to socialise and make new friends, as 51-year-old Janice Moseley has found.
“You meet nice people here, and you can build relationships with them outside the gym too,” she says. “I’ve met a few good friends from coming to the gym, including someone I get on really well with and now I’ll be going to her wedding!”
Janice joined YMCA Club seven years ago through work, which is just across the road from her office, after being advised to exercise to help alleviate problems with her back. She now has a private membership and comes to work out several times a week.
“Everyone here is friendly, especially the other members – everyone just talks to everybody else,” Janice comments. “The staff are really helpful, so you feel quite comfortable. If you don’t understand something there’s always someone there to explain, and that encourages you to keep coming.”
Energetic group classes like Spinning, Circuits and TRX keep Janice focused on maintaining her regime. “My general fitness has improved through being a member of YMCA Club,” she says. “If I don’t do anything for a while, I notice it. My back suffers and I get really stiff, so I keep coming, and I really enjoy it.”
But what sets YMCA Club apart, according to Janice, is the camaraderie among members and staff alike. “Everyone encourages you to keep going non-stop. The friendliness gives it the edge, and that’s what it comes down to.”
