4,500 apprentices and counting

This month we would like to take this opportunity to introduce YMCA Training, an integral team doing some incredible work as part of the Central YMCA charity. YMCA Training was created during the deep recession and mass unemployment of the late 1970s to help young people find new opportunities through work and training, and to give them the chance to play a more fulfilling role in their communities.

This focus on developing talent and providing opportunities for employment remains at the heart of what we do, and has been consistently and successfully developed through specialist support and vocational training across many sectors and specialisms.

YMCA Training are currently working on the front lines of some of the biggest issues facing society and the youth of today. They focus on helping young people who are looking to develop themselves, their skills and experience to help them find employment or to progress in the workplace. They run apprenticeships and similar schemes helping over 4,500 young people every year to get back on track through training that aims to lead directly into employment.

Since their creation back in the 1970’s there have been some amazing stories of personal achievement coming from within YMCA Training and we celebrated these successes at our House of Commons event during Apprenticeship week last month. We were honoured to have a great line up of influential and motivational speakers in attendance alongside our amazing apprentices.

Luke Kenny & Nicky Morgan - MP and the Secretary of State for Education

Nadhim Zahawi - MP and the Prime Ministers advisor on Apprenticeships
