Community Choir

About this group

The Community Choir group was set up in 2018 by the request of YMCA Club members. The group is designed for all enthusiastic singers, regardless of ability or previous experience, and covers a wide variety of styles including classical, gospel and contemporary (musicals). We meet each Friday, 6-7.30pm.

What participants will get out of this group

All participants are given sheet music with lyrics and are taught by ear, so it is not a problem if you don’t read music. The group includes both men and women of differing ages and abilities. So if you want to come and enjoy singing in a welcoming community, then this choir is for you!

Who can join

Anyone can join this group. We are running drop in sessions over the course as well as the full 12 week cycle. The next term starts on 13th April 2018 at 6pm in the George Williams Room, here at YMCA Club.

About the Choir Master

The choir is led by experienced master Patrick Barrett, who is currently Choral Conductor of both the University of Birmingham Women’s Choir and the University of Reading’s Chamber Choir, as well as assistant conductor with the National Children’s Choir and musicianship tutor with the National Youth Choir of Great Britain.
