Programme Outline

YMCA Positive Health exercise referral programme lasts for twelve weeks, but may be shorter depending on your exercise experience, and you will be asked to come in three times per week. You will be required to undertake physical activity that will be suited to your fitness and ability levels and likes and dislikes. Please see our Information Sheet for further details on the specifics of the programme.

With the continual assistance and support of a qualified fitness instructor, participation in the programme will address the changes to your body caused by required medication. In addition, through its structured and social approach, the programme is specifically designed to improve self-esteem and give you increased confidence.

Programme Benefits

During the programme participants are eligible for reduced therapy prices, nutrition support and life coaching.

In addition to the 12-week programme, members are encouraged to join the Positive Health team and other members on an annual Weekend in Sussex.  The weekend is optional with an additional charge and proves very popular with our Positive Health members.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is very important to us. Any member of staff that has access to your details will have to sign a confidentiality agreement. When you join the programme, you will be issued with a membership card which looks exactly like any ordinary membership card of the Club.

Cost of 12 week programme

Whilst on the Positive Health programme you have access to the Positive Health timetable plus the full class timetable.  Visits are paid for at Club Reception upon entry to the Club:

£2.70 off peak
£5.00 peak (after 15.45 on weekdays only)

Patients can start the Positive Health programme, once referred, at any time.

Off-peak Subsidised Membership:

Upon successful completion of the programme you are entitled to take out our reduced monthly off-peak membership or the standard Club peak membership if you would like to continue using Central YMCA Club.

Reduced monthly off-peak membership:

£21 pcm (standard off-peak membership £44.95 pcm)
£20 joining fee (standard joining fee £30)

Getting Started

If you would like to enrol onto our Positive Health scheme, please speak to your consultant or clinic.  We only accept referrals from registered HIV agencies and other specialist HIV organisations.
