Quality Promise

Central YMCA Club is the first organisation to have passed and renewed its Code of Practice (COP) compliancy for the second successive assessment.

Just under 500 health clubs and leisure facilities currently have COP status which is awarded by the FIA (Fitness Industry Association) to health and fitness operators who demonstrate a commitment to high standards, quality and customer welfare.

The three core areas of assessment were:

Staff Training

All fitness trainers at Central YMCA Club, involved in instruction, group exercise classes, circuits, keep fit, personal training, yoga, aqua, advanced instruction techniques, or working with special populations and exercise referral and physical activity programmes, are trained and have secured an appropriate nationally recognised health and fitness qualification.

The qualified fitness trainers are registered with the Register of Exercise Professionals (REP's), a Government approved UK register for qualified instructors, coaches, trainers and teachers involved in the instruction or supervision of exercise.

Customer Care

As a member of Central YMCA Club you will have been offered an induction programme to ensure that you know how to use the equipment effectively and safely.

Central YMCA Club acknowledges any complaint by a member or non-member and maintains all communications, in strictest confidence until the matter is resolved.

All written members' contracts have been drafted in accordance with the Office of Fair Trading's publication, 'Guidance on Unfair Terms in Health and Fitness Club Agreements' (March 2002).

Healthy and Safety

Central YMCA Club is committed to the health and safety of its members, guests, employees and contractors and complies with the FIA's Code of Practice standards of health and safety, designed to minimise risks and avoid accidents and ill health.
